![]() ![]() In this case the desired result was an AI that was smart enough to solve the puzzles and independent and curious enough to disobey Elohim and explore the unknown to find out what it is and learn, the same thing that let humanity thrive and progress. This is done with a number of random configurations of their "brain", and then the fittest ones are combined into the next generation, repeating the cycle until you get the desired result. In machine learning the AI is given a set of inputs, and after the AI processes the inputs it's fitness (how well it did the intended job) is measured. (Especially the Ascension ending where you obey Elohim and go through the door in world C) At least that's what I got from the library and gameplay and the endings. I'll try to keep the explanation short, bit there's a lot so it'll probably be long:Īll the robots including you, shepherd, D0g, samsara, etc are different iterations of the same AI undergoing machine learning. So while there's only one Talos (for now), all the others live on in his memories, much like humans live on in the memory of the Talos. That was a part of Alexandra's messages too, in that the species continues to live on as a part of modern society as long as it is never forgotten, much like we still remember the ancient Romans and Egyptians today, even though they are no longer with us. A sub-function of the one in control, having influenced (him?) in his development. ![]() Shepherd, MLA, D0g, all of them - they live on as a part of the Talos. The one that achieved the "ultimate" success of being able to reach beyond its programming and be more than just what Elohim directed, that was able to learn and understand that this was the true nature of humanity, was the one whose core function would "dominate" the Talos.īut, a part of every life is the summation of the interactions with everyone else. I can't remember the exact details of the ending, so this may be incorrect, but it's my head canon nonetheless. ![]()
